Separators are used in industry for removal of solid and liquid contaminants from fluid streams. In gas/liquid separators, contaminated gas is directed into adjacent vertical channels, where each one changes the direction of fluid, resulting in inertial forces and eventually separation of liquid droplets. Droplets are collected within the liquid reservoir and clean gas exits the end of vane pack.

How does a separator work ?
Moisture-laden steam enters the inlet of the separator where it is diverted in a centrifugal downward motion. The entrained moisture is separated out by reduction in velocity. Separated liquid then falls below the Vortex Containment Plate where it cannot be re-entrained. Dry, clean steam then flows upward and exits through the outlet of the separator.
