Bandar Abbas Oil Refinery

Bandar Abbas Oil Refinery

Company History

Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company is one of the nine refining companies in Iran, situated on approximately 700 hectares of land on the northern shores of the Persian Gulf, near the city of Bandar Abbas. It was established in 1997 to supply part of the country's oil products and export the surplus.

The refinery's nominal capacity was 232,000 barrels per day until July 2008. Thanks to the efforts of dedicated domestic specialists, this capacity increased to 320,000 barrels per day in August 2008. Additionally, in 2012, the company successfully implemented an innovative project without requiring new investments, further increasing the refinery's feed capacity by 30,000 barrels per day, reaching 350,000 barrels per day. The refinery’s feedstock includes 300,000 barrels of heavy crude oil, 30,000 barrels of gas condensates from Sarkhoon gas fields, and 20,000 barrels of light crude oil from Hengam Island.

Currently, the refinery produces approximately 18% of the country's refined oil and necessary petroleum products. The refinery is designed with advanced technology, emphasizing safety standards, environmental protection, energy efficiency, and operational flexibility.
