steam jet ejectors are jet pumps that particularly appropriate as vacuum pumps, as they can easily handle large vacuum volumes. in steam jet ejector live steam expands through the inlet nozzle, issuing at high velocity. The powerful suction thus produced entrains air or vapors via the suction connection. Steam Jet Ejector
What is a Steam Jet Ejector?
Steam jet ejector are particularly appropriate as vacuum pumps, as they can easily handle large vacuum volumes.Single stage jet pumps, or single stage steam jet ejectors which convey against atmospheric pressure are used for the production of vacuum down to a suction pressure of approx. 100 mbar but For lower suction pressures multi-stage steam jet vacuum pumps or multi stage steam jet ejectors are used, with or without intermediate condensation.
How Steam Jet Ejector works?
But to know more about the Steam Jet Ejectors principles we must notice that the base of Steam jet Ejectors is the ejector-venturi principles and operate by passing motive steam through an expanding nozzle. The expansion for the motive steam in steam jet ejectors is provided by nozzle. this controlled expansion in steam jet ejectors occurs in order to convert pressure in to velocity which creates a vacuum with in the body chamber to draw in and entrain gases or vapours. Then in our steam jet ejector we will have the motive steam and suction gas are completely mixed and then passed through the diffuser or tail, where the gases velocity is converted in to sufficient pressure to meet the predetermined discharge pressure. in fact we claim that the theory behind the Steam Jet Ejectors involves converting high-pressure motive steam into a high velocity jet in a nozzle. This causes a decrease in pressure and an increase in velocity so the suction fluid enters the ejector and its pressure increases by means of converging-diverging diffuser.
Where we can use Steam Jet Ejector?
The applications of Steam jet ejectors or Vacuum Ejectors varies in different fields. Steam jet ejectors or steam jet vacuum pumps are used in the different process such as food, steel and petrochemical industries .Steam jet ejectors could have been in typical duties like: filtration, distillation, absorption, mixing, vacuum packaging, freeze drying, dehysrating and degassing. Because of using steam as the motive fluid in vacuum ejectors so these types of ejectors will handle both condensible and none condensible gas loads as well as small amounts of solids or liquids, however using accidental entrainment of liquids in steam jet ejectors can cause a momentary interruption in vacuum but this will not cause damage to the steam jet ejector or steam jet vacuum pump.

Types of Steam Jet Ejector:
Steam Jet ejector (Single-Stage)
Steam Jet ejector (Multi-Stage)
What is a steam jet ejector (single-stage)?
Single stage jet ejector, which convey against atmospheric pressure are used for the production of vacuum down to a suction pressure of approx. 100 mbar. For lower suction pressures multi-stage steam jet vacuum pumps are used, with or without intermediate condensation.
Advantages
- A single pump can manage very large flow volumes of up to 1,000,000 m³/h without problems.
- High standard of operational reliability and vacuum performance
- Low investment costs in comparison to other possible alternatives
- Absolutely no difficulties in the case of process media with a strong tendency towards fouling and small amounts of solids or liquids
- No moving parts
- Practically maintenance free
- Corrosion/erosion resistance by choosing suitable material
- Easy installation
- Simple compact construction
Application
If a plant is to be evacuated within a given time, for example, during starting up, and the vacuum pump which maintains the operational vacuum takes longer than the given time, a jet pump is added as a start-up pump or pre-evacuator to speed up the evacuation. It is brought into operation together with the vacuum maintaining pump, but works only until the required vacuum, or a determined intermediate vacuum is reached.
Steam jet vacuum pumps are commonly used for handling condensables and noncondensables in processes such as
- Priming centrifugal pumps
- Exhausting air from vacuum pans and evaporators
- Exhausting tire molds
- Cooling
- Handling corrosive gases
- Distillation
- Absorption
- Mixing
- Vacuum packaging
- Freeze drying
- Production of vacuum in stirred vessels in discontinuous processes
Steam Jet Ejector Range of Operation
- When compressing against atmospheric pressure, used for the production of vacuum down to a suction pressure approx. 100 mbar.
- Single stage start-up jet pumps can, according to the motive steam pressure, achieve a suction pressure of 50 - 200 mbar.
